Someday I will copyedit the Great American Novel.
Just when you think it’s safe to go to Walmart.
I went to Walmart with my friend the other day. As we were leaving, a man came up to my cart and commenced staring at the top of my head. Finally, he said, “Didya make six foot?” I looked at him, nonplussed. He repeated, “Didya make six foot?” Finally, I realized he was asking how tall I was. “Not quite.” He said, “Oh.” Shook my hand and left.
Here’s a hint…
If you’re going to vote for “Other – see comment” on my poll, it’s only nice if you actually leave a comment/suggestion. We currently have someone who’s voted for other, but left no option. If you’ve got better ideas, I wanna hear ‘em.
Boy is my face red!

Why did I wait so long?
I just finished A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. This is such a great book! I can’t believe it sat on my shelf for so long unread. There isn’t really a plot. I guess it’s a coming of age novel. It’s about a really poor girl growing up in Brooklyn at the beginning of the 20th century. The descriptions in this book make me want to move to Brooklyn. It sounds magical.
My favorite part is the description of Francie’s Saturday afternoon. She goes to the library because she reads a book every day. She started with the A’s and plans to read every book in the library in alphabetical order. When she gets to Z, she plans to start over again. On Saturday, she checks out 2 books so she can read one on Sunday when the library is closed. She takes the book home and sits on her fire escape in the sun and reads.
This is one of those books that I find myself thinking about when I’m not reading. Then I realize that I’m done with it and I am sad. I miss reading it.
Cast your ballots!
As you can see, Mike finally got the poll to look the way he wants. Vote early and vote often!

Opinions needed!
My husband came up with two names for the blog, so I thought I’d get your opinions. He will shortly be putting up a poll for you to vote with, but until then, I thought I’d let you get started thinking about your choice. Let me know if you have better ideas.
1. Bookmark My Heart – referencing Motley Crue’s Kickstart My Heart.
2. Tome Sweet Tome – referencing MC’s Home Sweet Home (like you didn’t already know).
I burst out laughing when I heard each one of them, so I’m a bad judge. Comments appreciated.
I’ve decided…
It’s stupid to miss the whole concert just because I can’t find anyone crazy enough to go with me. Continue reading
